When you dont copy / paste you should have in your folder 2 files. After you renamed it copy the Kontakt 5.exe from the folder of step 3 to the current folder you have the OLD_Kontakt 5. Rename the Kontakt 5.exe to OLD_Kontakt 5.exe. Navigate to the folder you have installed Kontakt 5 (where Kontakt 5.exe is) on your PC. Navigate to the folder C -> Program Files-> Native Instruments-> Kontakt 5 -> 圆4. After you finished in the folder you should have 6 files, 3 OLD_Kontakt and 3 Kontakt dlls. After you rename them paste the 3 dll files from step 1 to this folder.

Rename the dll you see there to : OLD_Kontakt 5 8out.dll, OLD_Kontakt 5 16out.dll and OLD_Kontakt 5.dll. Go to where you have installed the Kontakt plugin. You will find 3 files here : Kontakt 5 8out.dll, Kontakt 5 16out.dll and Kontakt 5.dll. After you download the files navigate to the folder C-> Program Files (x86)-> VstPlugins->Native Instruments->Kontakt 5->圆4. I havent tried the 32 bit version and i have no idea how it could work on MAC.

This method works for me, i have installed Kontakt 5.6.6 on my PC and im on Windows 7 64 bit.
